Early life
Adolf Hitler was born in Austria on April 20, 1889, and moved to Germany with his family when he was three years old. Young Adolf didn't get along well with his father, and after his brother died in 1900, he became quiet and unsociable. Growing up, Hitler wanted to pursue a career as an artist against his father's wish for him to be a businessman. Hitler was also in love with his country and believed Germany should free from Austria-Hungary. In 1903 Hitler's father died, and in 1905Jobless and rejected from art school, Hitler was forced to live in a homeless shelter for many years. It is believed that this is where Hitler developed his hatred towards Jews. he dropped out, and left town to find work wherever he could.

Although Hitler was Austrian by citizenship, he joined the German military and served in their Army during World War I. He was even rewarded for bravery and given medals for fighting in important battles and being injured. Hitler became more and more patriotic as the war continued and was outraged when his country surrendered in 1918. He was even more so outraged at the Treaty of Versailles, and felt that it was unfair to the German people. Hitler continued working for the government after the war by investigating the German Workers Party, also known as the Nazi Party. During this time, Hitler was exposed to the group's beliefs, especially that of antisemitism. In 1919, Hitler decided to officially join the group, where he eventually changed their flag to the infamous swastika. Hitler became essential to the Party for his speech skills, and became the leader of the group in 1921.

November 8, 1923, Adolf Hitler and members of the Party entered a meeting of over 3.000 citizens and told them that there was a new era and government taking over. An outbreak of violence resulted in 20 people being killed, and Hitler being arrested for treason. In prison for one year, he wrote his infamous 800-paged book, Mein Kampf. In the book is Hitler's plans for the German race and his government.
